(LETS) GET DOWN

15.09.06
the sweetversion of let’s get down is based on a basic spanish guitarmelody with uplifting vocals and funky hihats. the funky guitar even gets a little outof tone sometimes, to give that real 12 inch feeling to it. the low bassline combined with the stabbing kick delivers a groovy summerfeeling to the track.the original mix is a powerful clubrecord with an electro twist. especially the fatchunky bassline puts the dance floor to work.the groove remix started out as a experimental version of lets getdown but the vocals were so catchy, playectra decided to produce a more groovy version of it. the rawsounding guitar and crushedhihats makes the track loose his sweetness to give the track a stronger and energetic feel. the long break in the middle of the track pushes the track to a climax. the filtered guitars and loud bassline makes the track a little bit french sounding

if there is one overall trend to spot in the wide fields of electronic music over the last years, it is the reversion to emotion. in a time where tracks are becoming more and more anonymous tools, melodies, references to pop music and recognition are seen as a design element and not as a blemish. to be honest, this recurrence was desperately needed, because music was always at best when feelings and not the mathematic of clicks were at the centre of attention. soda inc. reached this point of intersection already with their debut album >full moon< one and a half years ago. with intense anthems such as flight su 118 babak shayan and jon silva have created the deepest and most pictorial vision dub related techhouse had to offer to our hearts and souls. a solid basis to build up for the early summer of 2006....

(pokerflat) from the deepest depths of the rural wooded westerwald hills in germany comes the producer duo daniel girresser and michael erb, professionally known as girrèsse & erb. these two old warhorses of electronic music met at a rave in the early 90ies. fascinated by the complexity and the aesthetics of this new, non-natural and repetitive music, they decided to start their own project. they produced their first tracks in a small cellar with rather humble means. these were followed by live acts and releases under of >catch22<.

avida perfectly fit in with a kind of underground music that was getting all the rage in italy in those days: nonsense music (musica demenziale). the structures were intentionally primitive, often made on cheap electronics. maurizio damis vocals , inspired on early 60s italian singers (to carry on and close the typical 20 years cycle of revivals), such as edoardo vianello, had an appealing mix of trash and humour. avida was essen tially a live band. their performances were a mix of theatre and music, where visuals played a major role. anyway, today some of that music still sounds interesting and not only due to its lyric. in our opinion about the best music alexander robotnik ever made

the third release from nachtfrequent brings us four new fresh tracks from leo cubanero. two of them – play and english mafia – were layed down in co-operation with patrick di stefano(generalelektrik). the first tune is a very clubby track sporting some eccentric dodgy sounds. minimal oppressive but easily triggerin your dancing feet at the same time. the following play plays slower but has however a very funky touch with mad pitched vocals and the jostling basslines. rigth here and anywhere else this track is a burner. funky fat sounds and vocals which seem to come out directly of the lunatic asylum. and finally english mafia which weaves in the garb of minimal house a very nice carpet with memorable elektroid sounds. fine pads - not one gram too much
great 2004 four tracker with fine deep techno tracks and one additional loop on each side not to be missed
